the hand behind
Falguni Joshi
"My Art involves intimacy. It is a spiritual ceremony, the way my brush touches paper, the sound composed by my pencils in sync with bird chirps, I let some sunlight in and thoroughly enjoy the whole process of it, I keep doing my little dance all the time."
I draw with charcoal and paint with coffee. I style stories more than clothes: goddesses, ghosts, women made of thread. I photograph myself when no one else will hold the idea gently enough. Everything in this folio, the drawn and the staged, comes from the same two hands.
I trained in fashion design and styling (NIFT Mumbai), assisted at Filmfare and London Fashion Week, and have built visual worlds for brands as a stylist, photographer and art director. Since 2018 I have also run Art Storm, my art education practice: a hundred-some students a year learning charcoal, colour and courage.
